Matt Wills
Co-Founder and President
Matt’s expertise building, scaling, and investing in tech-enabled healthcare service companies led him to join Lumata's founding team in 2019.
Before Lumata, Matt co-founded and led a specialty infusion pharmacy and played a vital role in facilitating its acquisition by a nationwide pharmacy leader.
Matt started his career in investment banking and is a Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder. He guides Lumata's finances, operations, marketing, and strategic partnerships to bring intelligent eye care to even more patients in 2023 and beyond.
Landon Grace
CEO
Landon Grace has devoted the last 15 years to tackling some of the most challenging problems in engineering and healthcare on behalf of organizations like NASA, the National Science Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health.
Landon has directed more than $5M in scientific research in his concurrent roles at Lumata and as a professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at North Carolina State University.
Landon is passionate about leveraging engineering tools and concepts to solve problems that directly impact patients and providers. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he led a team of engineers to tackle critical health system supply chain issues through innovations in manufacturing and tool adaptation.
He brings the same resourcefulness and spirit of innovation to Lumata, where he shepherds our company's growth and advances our mission to stop preventable blindness through data science, research and development, and business strategy and development.
Stephen Fransen, MD
Chairman and Co-Founder
Meet our founder: Stephen Fransen, MD is a retinal specialist and entrepreneur with 30+ years of experience caring for patients and building value-based solutions to improve eye care at a population level.
As a physician, Dr. Fransen grew frustrated seeing patients come to him after losing their vision to highly treatable conditions.
This ultimately led him to build Retinal Care (now Lumata Health), to support eye care practices and their patients throughout the chronic care journey.
Scott Donehoo
VP of Customer Success
Scott is a mission-driven Customer Success and Business Development executive with over 20 years of leadership experience. He pivoted from technology sales into healthtech, and has spent over twelve years helping emerging companies improve the patient experience. Prior to joining Lumata Health, Scott helped bring online appointment scheduling to patients across the US. More recently, he scaled the Client Services team for a virtual behavioral health medical group. Scott is very excited about the opportunity Lumata provides to help enable care for ophthalmology practices and their patients across the country.
Scott resides just south of Nashville, Tennessee, a place he has come to love since arriving in 2004. He is tremendously grateful for his wife, Maureen, and their two daughters, Madolyn and Colleen. Scott holds a BBA from Baylor University and an MBA from Michigan State University.
In his spare time, Scott enjoys the outdoors, travel and music. He is involved in several charitable and community service organizations, including annual fundraising for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Scott also participates as a classroom reader through Nashville’s Book ‘em program.
Chris Jones
VP of Sales
Chris has over 20 years of experience as a senior sales leader in the healthcare technology industry. Prior to joining Lumata Health, Chris spent most of his career with the leading laboratory information systems provider in the market. He was instrumental in helping build and lead the company’s sales team, from its very early stages through the company's successful exit to private equity.

Chris makes scaling our technology to clinics across the country possible. He has spent his career pioneering technologies that delight and empower clients across a wide variety of applications.
A lifelong technologist and software developer, Chris most recently grew and led a top global AWS Consulting partner to acquisition. Today at Lumata, Chris streamlines operations to ensure Lumata's technology effectively empowers eye care practices and care coordinators to deliver next-level service.
Jessica Jones
Director of Information & Digital Technology
Jessica Jones is an experienced Director of Technology with a proven track record in fast-paced startup environments and the healthcare industry. She possesses strong skills in technical solution design, process management, and product implementation. Jessica's expertise lies in leveraging technologies like Salesforce.com to customize and streamline business operations.
Over her career, Jessica has held leadership roles driving operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. She excels at analyzing processes, identifying areas for optimization, and implementing robust solutions. Jessica's attention to detail, coupled with her analytical mindset, allows her to deliver high-quality results.
While her professional experience is grounded in technology and operations, Jessica's educational background is in History, having earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Oklahoma. This unique combination of technical acumen and liberal arts education makes her adept at viewing challenges from multiple perspectives and developing innovative, well-rounded strategies.

Tamela Penn
Director of Clinical Operations
Tamela Penn, a seasoned healthcare professional with over two decades of dedicated service in the industry, brings a wealth of expertise and leadership to her role. With eight years of experience in leadership positions, Tamela is passionate about nurturing teams and developing individuals to reach their fullest potential.
Specializing in startup ventures within the healthcare sector, Tamela possesses a unique understanding of the complexities involved in launching and growing innovative healthcare initiatives. Her ability to refine organizational structures and streamline workflows has been instrumental in driving operational efficiency and achieving sustainable growth.
Since obtaining her nursing license in 2009, Tamela has seized numerous opportunities, leveraging her skills and knowledge to make a significant impact in the healthcare landscape. She prioritizes value-based care and optimal patient outcomes, ensuring that every decision and action aligns with providing the highest quality of care possible.

Andrew Foley
VP of Finance
Andrew is a dedicated leader adept at bridging the business development, operations, and finance functions within high-growth healthcare organizations. He brings experience from several value-based care startups, where he helped them scale and build robust finance functions. Andrew began his career in valuation and is a CFA charterholder and CPA.
Andrew is based in Nashville, Tennessee, where he initially moved to teach high school math with Teach for America. He holds a BS from The University of Alabama and MAcc from Vanderbilt's Owen Graduate School of Management.
In his spare time, Andrew enjoys golf, board games, and spending time with his wife and son. He also serves as treasurer and board member for AgeWell, a non-profit dedicated to empowering the aging population of Middle Tennessee. Andrew is enthusiastic about the opportunities at Lumata to enhance eye care for patients nationwide.
