Matt Wills
Co-Founder and President
Matt’s expertise building, scaling, and investing in tech-enabled healthcare service companies led him to join Lumata's founding team in 2019.
Before Lumata, Matt co-founded and led a specialty infusion pharmacy and played a vital role in facilitating its acquisition by a nationwide pharmacy leader.
Matt started his career in investment banking and is a Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder. He guides Lumata's finances, operations, marketing, and strategic partnerships to bring intelligent eye care to even more patients in 2023 and beyond.
Landon Grace
CEO
Landon Grace has devoted the last 15 years to tackling some of the most challenging problems in engineering and healthcare on behalf of organizations like NASA, the National Science Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health.
Landon has directed more than $5M in scientific research in his concurrent roles at Lumata and as a professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at North Carolina State University.
Landon is passionate about leveraging engineering tools and concepts to solve problems that directly impact patients and providers. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he led a team of engineers to tackle critical health system supply chain issues through innovations in manufacturing and tool adaptation.
He brings the same resourcefulness and spirit of innovation to Lumata, where he shepherds our company's growth and advances our mission to stop preventable blindness through data science, research and development, and business strategy and development.
Stephen Fransen, MD
Chairman and Co-Founder
Meet our founder: Stephen Fransen, MD is a retinal specialist and entrepreneur with 30+ years of experience caring for patients and building value-based solutions to improve eye care at a population level.
As a physician, Dr. Fransen grew frustrated seeing patients come to him after losing their vision to highly treatable conditions.
This ultimately led him to build Retinal Care (now Lumata Health), to support eye care practices and their patients throughout the chronic care journey.
Ashlie Malone
VP of Clinical Operations
Ashlie Malone is a seasoned business professional and entrepreneur with over 20 years experience in the healthcare industry. Most recently Ashlie served as the Practice Administrator of a privately-held specialty ophthalmology practice which she launched with the owners in 2008 and developed into a large surgical group spanning a tri-county region outside of Charleston, South Carolina until its corporate acquisition in the summer of 2023.
In addition to her administrative expertise, Ashlie is an active member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators (ASOA) as well as the South Carolina Bar Association. Ashlie currently serves as the President of the National Board for the Certification of Ophthalmic Executives (NBCOE), is a frequent contributor to Administrative EyeCare Magazine, and works closely with practices as both a consultant and mentor with a special focus on practice management, workflow, and recovering profitability. Her entrepreneurial spirit has supported the launch and development of several personal ventures as well, including the Practice Management Insights podcast and Phone COA, LLC, which provides prescreening and preloading services to busy ophthalmic practices to decompress staffing shortages and expedite patient work up times.
Most importantly, Ashlie is a wife and mother of three boys and enjoys developing new projects, travel and boating with her family.
Chris Jones
VP of Sales
Chris has over 20 years of experience as a senior sales leader in the healthcare technology industry. Prior to joining Lumata Health, Chris spent most of his career with the leading laboratory information systems provider in the market. He was instrumental in helping build and lead the company’s sales team, from its very early stages through the company's successful exit to private equity.
Chris Autrey
Chief Technology Officer
Chris makes scaling our technology to clinics across the country possible. He has spent his career pioneering technologies that delight and empower clients across a wide variety of applications.
A lifelong technologist and software developer, Chris most recently grew and led a top global AWS Consulting partner to acquisition. Today at Lumata, Chris streamlines operations to ensure Lumata's technology effectively empowers eye care practices and care coordinators to deliver next-level service.
Scott Donehoo
VP of Customer Success
Scott is a mission-driven Customer Success and Business Development executive with over 20 years of leadership experience. He pivoted from technology sales into healthtech, and has spent over twelve years helping emerging companies improve the patient experience. Prior to joining Lumata Health, Scott helped bring online appointment scheduling to patients across the US. More recently, he scaled the Client Services team for a virtual behavioral health medical group. Scott is very excited about the opportunity Lumata provides to help enable care for ophthalmology practices and their patients across the country.
Scott resides just south of Nashville, Tennessee, a place he has come to love since arriving in 2004. He is tremendously grateful for his wife, Maureen, and their two daughters, Madolyn and Colleen. Scott holds a BBA from Baylor University and an MBA from Michigan State University.
In his spare time, Scott enjoys the outdoors, travel and music. He is involved in several charitable and community service organizations, including annual fundraising for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Scott also participates as a classroom reader through Nashville’s Book ‘em program.
